Octabenzone (Spectra-Sorb UV 531, MPI Milestab 81) is a UV absorber/screener. It is used to protect polymers (e.g., polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinylchloride) against damage by UV light.

UV absorber uv-531 is a high efficiency anti-aging agent with excellent performance, can absorb 240-340 nanometer ultraviolet light, with light color, non-toxic, good compatibility, small migration, easy to process and other characteristics. It has the greatest protective effect on the polymer, and helps to reduce the color, while delaying yellowing and blocking the loss of physical properties. It is widely used in PE, PVC, PP, PS, PC, plexiglass, polypropylene fiber and vinyl acetate.
